Death Certificates

Customers are required to follow COVID restrictions.  Driver's License customers should arrive early to guarantee service.  Our building hours are 8:00 am to - 4:30 pm.

Dodge County Recorder's office is able to process death certificate requests when the death occurred in any County in Minnesota during or after 1996.  If the death took place before 1996, you will need to contact the County where the death occurred or order by mail from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Valid identification and tangible interest in the record are required for all requests, along with a completed Death Certificate Application.

Non certified death records can also be obtained in this office.  Please call our office for details at (507) 635-6250.

Tangible interest is determined by the Minnesota Department of Health.  Please click on the following link for Tangible Interest Information, which will bring up a detailed chart from the Minnesota Department of Health.     

Acceptable forms of payment are cash and check.   If you are mailing your request for a Death Certificate, your signature on the Death Certificate Application must be witnessed by a Notary Public.  Please mail to:
