History: This monumental event brought National publicity to a local farm just west of Kasson. Presidential candidates Dwight Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson spoke to a crowd of around 125,000 people coming from 50 different counties. Each candidate spoke for many hours on the importance of proper soil and water management in agriculture. Eisenhower spoke first in the morning and Stevenson starting in the afternoon. The event was the first National Soil and Water Conservation Field Day and was a huge success for the community. Today, the sign stands alone at a pull-out on County Road 34, allowing for ones imagination to picture the spectacle that was Plowville USA.
