Kathryn Burbank was sworn in as the new Assistant Dodge County Attorney by Third Judicial District Judge Jodi L. Williamson in early August.

Dodge County had been using the services of Geoffrey Hjerleid, the Senior Assistant Olmsted County Attorney in this capacity, but his contract with Dodge County will expire at the end of the year.

Kathryn is originally from Glenwood, Iowa. Her bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University is in criminal justice. She then attended law school in Minneapolis, where she received a Juris Doctor degree.

She was the Faribault County attorney for three years before accepting the job in Dodge County.

“It was a wonderful job, but I got engaged and married to Jeff Burbank who is a Police Detective with the City of Faribault, currently assigned to the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force. He simply couldn’t move to Blue Earth, so I came to him. Luckily Dodge County was hiring an assistant county attorney to handle their criminal caseload. Everyone in Dodge County has been incredibly welcoming and I’m excited to get started,” she said.

The Dodge County Attorney’s office prosecutes all criminal offenses committed in the county except for municipal ordinance violations.
