At their regular meeting March 23, the Dodge County Commissioners approved the bid from Doyle Connor Company for about $2.05 million for concrete resurfacing from Trunk Highway (T.H.) 14 to County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 34 at County Road 15. The project completion date was set for Sept. 2. The city of Dodge Center is joined in on this contract as they will have utility and sidewalk upgrades, explained County Engineer Guy Kohlnhofer.

The commissioners also approved the bid for approximately $7.03 million from Rochester Sand and Gravel for the bituminous pavement mill and overlay on CSAH 22, between Concord and T.H. 57 and between CSAH 11 and the East County Line Road. The bid also included the bituminous pavement reclamation on CSAH 24/Olmsted County Road 13, between T.H. 57 and Olmsted County Road 3. A portion of this project includes the expansion of a sharp curve to increase safety to the traveling public, said Guy.

The commissioners approved scheduling the April 12 board meeting for the public hearing of the county’s five-year Capital Improvement Plan. This plan serves as a guide for planning the engineering and design of projects over the next five years.

Guy also explained that the county manages bridges in the county located on township and county roads. He presented the Bridge Priority List to the commissioners. This document lists bridges as “functionally or structurally deficient.” The condition of the bridges determines eligibility for funding through the Town Bridge account or state bonding.
